曹家大院的第一代主人叫曹致远。他清末在京城谋生，后来自创商号“公利和鼻烟庄”，在家乡建有票号和商号，生意做得风生水起。曹致远育有三子，1929年开建这座曹家大院。现存大院依稀留有原规模，一排七孔外挂青砖窑洞，三院独分，又有倚门相连，占地上千平方米。
As an aside: the early 386's POPAD instruction has a famous bug. EAX is written in the RNI (run-next-instruction) delay slot via an indirect register file access -- the only instruction that does this. When the next instruction uses a base+index addressing mode, the register file write from POPAD collides with the EA calculation's register file read, corrupting the address.
